Emma & Lena

Our friends Amy & Seth and their adorable daughter Lena visited us last weekend from Pennsylvania! We had a great day - had snacks, lunch, swam in the pool, and had a great dinner. The girls got along great from the first moment! They were very sweet together and enjoyed each others company - and gave each other hugs and kisses when Lena left!

School Days

Emma started 2 year old pre-school last week! She will be going to pre-school 2 days a week, from 9 am - 1 pm. So far, she's doing pretty well. We definitely had some tears, but day 2 was better than day 1 - so we have our fingers crossed! Her "First Day of School" pictures were so cute - we had to share them!

Haircut

I posted these on Facebook - but here are the hilarious pictures from Emma's first "Salon Haircut." I took her to where I get my haircut - since she has been there many times and I thought she would do better. Well, not exactly. She was very weary of this whole ordeal - and started going down hill when they tried to wash her hair (she doesn't even like US to wash her hair). So we bailed on the hair washing and just spritzed her hair to wet it. But then the cape was not a hit - so eventually, she sat in my lap, with no cape on and we finished. Her hair looks good (just a trim all around) but boy, I may have to learn to cut it myself. What an ordeal...for both of us!

Beach in July

Emma had her Granny in town visiting last weekend - and had a wonderful time showing her around! We started off at the beach - and enjoyed a beautiful day in the sun. Emma had a great time digging, building sandcastles and turtles in the sand, and running in the waves. She got lots of swimming time in "the big pool" as well. We then spent a relaxing weekend at home swimming and playing ("riding my bicycle"). Enjoy some great beach pics!

Zoo Day

Emma and I braved the heat today and went to the Brevard Zoo! It was a lot of fun - but wow is it hot already! Emma is at a good age for this now...she was really interested in seeing the animals. That is except those birds [biting incident last year :-)]. I think she still remembers. We ventured into the aviary and Emma said, "let's go see something else Mom!" Too funny. We saw giraffes, monkeys, ducks, boars, macaws, birds, alligators, deer, and bald eagles. Then we thought it was time to cool off - so we of course made a visit to the splash pad/wading pool @ the zoo! Perfect ending!

Pinkle Pinkle Little Star

We are finally home after our first long road trip with Emma since she was a baby! She did GREAT! We were actually VERY surprised...she did wonderful on the 9 hour drive up and back. We split the drive and I think that helped - and she loved staying in a hotel! She was a little angel!

We had so much fun in NC visiting MeMe & Pop Pop. Emma loved riding the golf cart and running around on the golf course looking for balls at night. We went swimming, saw [and pet] miniature horses, went to a small town 4th of July Parade, and just enjoyed being in the mountains. We also went on a hike at Fire's Creek - and played in the creek with rocks afterwards. This was definitely a highlight!

Emma also really started singing this weekend. It was so cute...she kept singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...but her version is "Pinkle Pinkle Little Star!" Adorable! She also loves to sing "Jesus Loves Me," and "ABC's". She loved singing her songs into a pretend microphone (door knob) and with Pop Pop's guitar! Enjoy some of our favorite photos from the weekend! And yes - we're still pacy free :-) Hooray!

Big Girl

We now have a big girl on our hands. Sorry that we haven't posted in a while...we've been a little busy. We now have a potty trained, big girl bed sleeping, big girl who no longer is attached to a PACY!!!!! Wow. I never thought it would happen. Emma has forgotten about her pacy. It only took 2 days! I'm beginning to think she was born with a pacy in her mouth...and we are finally free! She has made some huge strides lately - and has adjusted really well. She is doing great with potty training - without jinxing it - we haven't had an accident in a while :-) She loves her big girl bed [toddler bed] - and frequently appears in our room at 6 am staring at my {or John's} face. What a great way to wake up!
